What is Paul Rosen’s training, background and experience?

I, Paul Rosen, graduated from Manchester medical school and I’ve always been very interested in photography, in building – for example – radios and technical things. So ophthalmology was an obvious choice for me, because there are lots of gadgets that you can play with, lots of technology and it is a subject which has been advancing very rapidly and I think I’ve been very fortunate to have seen most of the the modern changes in ophthalmic surgery.
I moved to Windsor, which was a very major centre for training for junior ophthalmologists and worked with someone, called Jack Kansky, who is the most prolific author of ophthalmic text books. I had the opportunity to use my photographic skills, which were used to illustrate his text books.
I went to St. Thomas’s in London for further training and then to Moorfields Eye Hospital, which, as many people know, is the biggest eye hospital in Europe and one of the biggest in the world.
Then was appointed as a consultant in Oxford and have been there for just over twenty years
